Mavs beat CSU-P 7-2, fall to UNK 5-4

Mesa State defeated host CSU-Pueblo Friday morning in Pueblo sweeping all three doubles matches on the way to a 7-2 victory. The Mavericks won four of the six singles matches clinching the dual.

Kaitlan Sera and Kate Lowder won at number two and three singles respectively, each in straight sets.

Skyler Nelson and Alison Grush won at number five and six singles respectively, allowing a total of just seven games to their opponent.

Friday afternoon the Mavericks, ranked No. four in the central region battled number two ranked Neb.-Kearney, falling to the Lopers 5-4.

UNK took the early lead winning two of the three doubles matches. MSC's number two team of Kelleen and Kaitlan Sera defeated the Lopers'  No. two team 8-4.

The two teams split the six singles matches as UNK won at number 1, 2 and 5 singles to clinch the dual. MSC's Kaitlan Sera (#3), Kate Lowder (#4) and Skyler Nelson (#6) were victorious. Sera and Lowder won in straight sets and Nelson won a third set super-tiebreak for the win.

MSC will host Colorado Christian, Montana State Billings and CSU-Pueblo at home this weekend beginning Thursday, 3:30 p.m. at the Elliott Tennis Center on the campus of MSC.
