Mesa State tennis team defeated host Dixie State College 7-2 Saturday afternoon in St. George, Utah. Earlier in the day MSC fell to Academy of Art University 8-1.
MSC swept five of the six singles matches against Dixie State including straight set victories in four of the matches. Kelleen Sera (#1), Kaitlan Sera (#3) and Kate Lowder (#4) dropped a combined seven games dominating their opponents. Victoria Sargent (#2) won her match 6-2, 6-4.
The Mavs doubles teams won at number one (Lowder/Sargent) and number two (Sera/Sera) by the scores of 8-5 and 8-2 respectively.
Academy of Art swept the singles action in the morning dual. Sargent fell in a third set super-tiebreak 6-4, 4-6, 8-10. MSC's number three doubles team of Alison Grush and Skyler Nelson defeated Academy of Art's number three team 8-4 for the lone point.
MSC is 7-4 overall and will travel to California and Arizona for spring break beginning Monday, March 15 at Westmont College. The Mavs first conference match will April 1 versus Metro State.
