Mesa State women's tennis team opened the 2011 season at Division I University of Northern Colorado, Saturday evening in Greeley. The Bears defeated the Mavericks 7-0 in each school's opening match of the season.
MSC's number one singles player Kelleen Sera fell in three sets of UNC's Jennifer Whateley. Sera took the first set 6-2, but fell 1-6, 4-6 in the final two sets.
The Mavs #3 singles player, Kate Lowder fell 7-5, 6-0 to Adriana Nieto.
MSC's #3 doubles team of Alison Grush and Skyler Nelson lost in a tie break 8-7 (7-1).
MSC will return to action March 5 in St. George, Utah against Academy of Art.
