Mesa State women's tennis team opened the fall season with a 6-3 dual match win at Neb.-Kearney Thursday afternoon.
MSC won five of the six singles matches on their way to victory, despite falling behind 1-2 following doubles action. UNK took a 2-1 lead after winning both the number two and three doubles matches. MSC's number one doubles team of Kate Lowder and Victoria Sargent won 8-3 for the lone doubles point.
MSC took control of the singles winning at number two through six, all in straight sets. UNK's only singles point came at number one singles with last years' RMAC Player of the Year, Katie-Mary Outhwaite of UNK, defeating MSC's number one, Kate Lowder.
Mesa State will play in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region Tournament beginning Friday morning and running through Sunday afternoon. The singles and doubles winners will advance to the ITA National Small College Championships held October 15-18 in Mobile, Alabama.
