Maverick men extended their win streak to four games defeating Western New Mexico on the road 61-51. The win improved MSC's record to 10-9 overall and 7-4 in RMAC action.
MSC had three players score double figures led by Sean Flohr's 14 points off the bench. Flohr was 4-for-4 from beyond the arc, recorded three assists, one block and one steal.
Jake Swartzendruber and Jase Herl each finished with a double-double. Swartzendruber finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Herl recorded 10 points and 12 rebounds. Herl and Ryan Mathews had five assists each.
MSC out-rebounded WNMU 44-33. The Mavericks shot 55.6 percent (10-18) from the 3-point line and 86.7 percent (13-15) from the foul line. The Mustangs shot 15 percent (3-20) from beyond the arc and 61.5 percent (16-26) from the free throw line. MSC was 6-for-6 from the foul in the final 47 seconds.
Mesa State will travel to Adams State Friday night and at Fort Lewis College Saturday night. Both games are set to tip-off at 8 pm.
