Mesa State women's tennis team began the 2008 fall season on the road in Denver, sweeping all four duals Friday and Saturday. MSC swept Colorado Christian, CSU-Pueblo and Fort Hays State 9-0.
The Mavericks defeated Metro State 6-3 on Saturday, pushing their record to 4-0.
Number one singles player Kate Lowder swept all four singles matches, dropping the first set to Metro State before closing out the final two sets for the victory.
Number two player Victoria Sargent posted a 3-1 singles and doubles record, both her losses coming to Metro State.
Freshman twins Kelleen and Kaitlin Sera began their collegiate career going 4-0 in singles play at number three and four singles respectively. The Sera's at number two doubles posted a perfect 3-0 record.
Mandie Divino and Renee Demianeu played number five and six singles respectively. Divino recorded a 3-1 singles record, falling to Metro State, and teamed with Demianeu for a 4-0 doubles record. Demianeu went undefeated in play, 3-0 in singles and a 4-0 in doubles action. Demianeu allowed just nine games total in her three singles matches.
MSC will travel to Kearney, NE., for a dual match with the Lopers Thursday afternoon. Friday through Sunday MSC will participate in the Wilson/ITA Collegiate Tournament hosted by UNK.
