As a Sophomore (2022): Competed in all five of the Mavs’ full-team meets and was amongst the top five in each… Placed 12
th at both the Mountaineer/Cowboy Invite and Gig Leadbetter Maverick Stampede to begin the season… Set a 5K career-best time of 19:02.8 at the latter, as the Mavs’ third finisher… Was also the team’s third finisher at the NCAA D2 Pre-Nationals Meet, where she finished 96
th with a career-best 6K time of 23:10.2… Went on to place 52
nd at the RMAC Championships and 94
th at the South Central Regional Championships… Was the team’s third finisher at the conference meet and the fourth at the regional.
As a Freshman (2021): Competed in all six meets of the season, including the first two as an unattached runner… Finished tenth in her team debut at the Gig Leadbetter Maverick Stampede as CMU’s third runner… Placed 88
th at the RMAC Championships as CMU’s No. 6 finisher before taking 139
th at the NCAA Division II South Central Regional with a 6K season-best time of 24:51.7… Was also the Mavs’ sixth finisher there… Finished 22
nd in a season-best 5K time of 19:22.3 at the UCCS Rust Buster and then 15
th at the Mountaineer/Cowboy Invite to begin the season… Had her redshirt pulled after those strong efforts.
Prep: 2021 graduate of Salem Hills High School… Ran for the Skyhawks coached by Jen Hughes… Finished 19
th at the 5A Cross Country State Championships after turning in a time of 19:04 at the Region 8 Championships, where she placed 13th… Had a PR of 18:55.50 earlier in the year… Had track PRs of 5:39 (1600) and 12:10 (3200) during her 2021 senior season… Was a 4-year honor roll selection with a 3.9 GPA.
Personal: Is majoring in radiology… Daughter of Linda and Sam Maestas… Has twin siblings— Sam and Alayna… Plans to go to PA or medical school after completing her bachelor’s degree… Enjoys hiking, making jewelry and fashion… Also loves to travel and has a goal to run a 5K in every state.
Why I Chose CMU: “I chose CMU because of the radiology program and incredible XC/Track team! The whole team has been so kind and has motivated me to give my all. Another thing I love is being in nature so, Grand Junction and CMU are perfect for me.”
