2022 Outdoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Selected to the RMAC All-Academic First Team… Ran in five meets, including the RMAC Championships… Contested the 3,000-meter steeplechase in each of the last four after contesting the 800 and 1,500 meters at the Maverick Invite to begin the campaign… Broke the CMU record in the steeplechase in his final effort of the year, posting a time of 9:35.63 at the APU Last Chance… Had placed 15
th at the RMAC Championships in 9:58.89 before running to a season-best altitude-adjusted mark of 9:29.07 (9:41.90-actual) at the Maverick Top Gun Last Chance Meet… Finished third in each of his two home track efforts… Posted a career-best time of 2:01.96 in the 800 at the Maverick Invite… Also ran to a 1,500-meter time of 4:08.60 at that meet.
2021-22 Indoor (Senior): Ran in two meets… Posted a time of 4:41.21 in the mile at the Western Colorado Alumni Open before running the opening 1,200-meter leg on CMU’s distance medley relay team that posted a time of 11:12.41 to take ninth at the RMAC Championships… Named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.
2020-21: Was not enrolled at CMU after graduating in 2020.
2019-20 Indoor (Junior): Competed in six meets, including the RMAC Championships… Qualified in the mile after posting a career-best time of 4:21.44 (4:12.08-converted) at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational… Is sixth in program history with that time… Also had a 3K PR of 8:57.91 at that meet to rank seventh in program history… Placed 12
th in the mile at the RMAC Championships in 4:27.21… Also ran the anchor mile leg on the Mavs’ distance medley relay team… Helped the Mavs place sixth in a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 10:24.77, fifth fastest in program history… Contested the 5,000 meters at the Mines Winter Classic finishing in 16:10.47… Ran on a 4x400-meter relay team that finished in 3:32.11 at the UCCS Invitational… Earned RMAC All-Academic First Team honors... Earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
2019 Outdoor (Redshirt Freshman): Ran in four meets, contesting the 3,000m steeplechase in three of them... Had a season-best time of 10:01.51 to finish 11th at the RMAC Championships... Posted a time of 4:07.01 in his lone attempt at the 1,500m during the Colorado Invitational... Ranks ninth in program history with that mark... RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll pick.
2018-19 Indoor (Sophomore): Ran the mile at three meets... Had a season-best time of 4:46.22 at the Colorado Invitational... RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll selection.
2018 Outdoor (Freshman): Redshirt season.
2018 Indoor (Freshman): Competed in two meets... Ran the mile at the Western Alumni Open, finishing sixth in 4:49.88... Ran the 3,000 meters at the Colorado Invitational, finishing in 9:35.49.
High School: Won the 3200 meter title at the Jeffco 4A/5A League Meet as a senior with the Standley Lake HS Gators as a senior in 2017... Had finished third in the 1600 with a PR time of 4:31.98 at that meet... Set a 3200 PR of 10:05.10 earlier in the season... Won the 1600 at two early season meets in 2017.
Personal:Â The son of Dana and Aaron Smith...Majoring in Environmental Science...Aspires to clean up contaminated sites and disturbed land...Chose CMU because it was in close proximity to many different landmarks and the campus was beautiful.
