2024-25 (Redshirt Sophomore): Did not compete in any meets.
2024 Outdoor (Redshirt Freshman): Ran in two home meets… Contested the 1,500 meters in both, posting a season-best time of 4:16.53 at the Maverick Invite & Multi… Also ran on a 4x400-meter relay at that meet… Ran to a career-best 800-meter time of 2:05.93 at the Maverick Invite #2.
2023-24 Indoor (Redshirt Freshman): Ran in three meets, all in Gunnison… Competed in the 800 meters at two, posting a season-best time of 2:08.84 at the Mountaineer Open… Ran the mile in 5:01.23 at the Big Red Machine Open.
2023 Outdoor (Freshman): Redshirt season… Ran unattached at the Maverick Invite, posting a 1,500 meter time of 4:15.04 before helping an unattached 4x400-meter relay team to a time of 3:29.56.
2022-23 Indoor (Freshman): Redshirt season… Ran unattached in two meets… Had a season-best 800-meter time of 2:03.55 at the Mountaineer Open & Multi.
Prep: 2022 graduate of Mancos HS, where he was coached by Brady Archer… Placed seventh in the 800 meters at the 1A Colorado State Championships as a senior in 2022… Had finished fifth in the 1,600 and sixth in the 800 as a junior in 2021… Ran to PR times of 2:02.12 and 4:37.87 to do so… Claimed three regular season cross country victories as a senior in the fall of 2021 before taking third at the 2A Region 4 Championships with a PR time of 17:07… Went on to finish 19
th at the 2A State Championships… Earned Honorable Mention All-State honors in both 2019 and 2021… Won a combined seven track events as a senior in 2022, winning the San Juan Basin League crown in the 1600 while placing second in the triple jump… Had won SJBL titles in both the 1,600 and 3,200 as a junior in 2021, setting a PR of 11:29.08 in the longer race… Also had a triple jump PR of 36-5.5 to finish second.
Personal: Is a pre-business administration major… Wants to start his own business of some sort in the future… Son of Mario and Carmen Hernandez… Has two older brothers— Manuel and Adrian… Enjoys playing basketball, fishing and hanging out with friends.
Why I Chose CMU: “I chose CMU because it is a beautiful campus and I like the location of it. Also both of my brothers went to school there, one of them graduating there in 2018.”
