As a Redshirt Sophomore (2024): Did not race.

As a Redshirt Freshman (2023): Ran in the Mavs’ first two meets, placing 41^st at the Gig Leadbetter Maverick Stampede with a time of 28:07.1… Had finished 65^th at the Mountaineer Invite.

As a Freshman (2022): Redshirt season… Competed unattached in two early-season meets… Finished 42^nd at the Mountaineer/Cowboy Invite… Was 43^rd at the Gig Leadbetter Maverick Stampede… Posted an 8K time of 27:11.2 at the home meet.

Prep: 2022 graduate of Mancos HS, where he was coached by Brady Archer… Placed seventh in the 800 meters at the 1A Colorado State Championships as a senior in 2022… Had finished fifth in the 1,600 and sixth in the 800 as a junior in 2021… Ran to PR times of 2:02.12 and 4:37.87 to do so… Claimed three regular season cross country victories as a senior in the fall of 2021 before taking third at the 2A Region 4 Championships with a PR time of 17:07… Went on to finish 19^th at the 2A State Championships… Earned Honorable Mention All-State honors in both 2019 and 2021… Won a combined seven track events as a senior in 2022, winning the San Juan Basin League crown in the 1600 while placing second in the triple jump… Had won SJBL titles in both the 1,600 and 3,200 as a junior in 2021, setting a PR of 11:29.08 in the longer race… Also had a triple jump PR of 36-5.5 to finish second.

Personal: Is a pre-business administration major… Wants to start his own business of some sort in the future… Son of Mario and Carmen Hernandez… Has two older brothers— Manuel and Adrian…  Enjoys playing basketball, fishing and hanging out with friends.

Why I Chose CMU: “I chose CMU because it is a beautiful campus and I like the location of it. Also both of my brothers went to school there, one of them graduating there in 2018.”
