Biography
2023 (As a Graduate): 2023: Played in 17 games, making four starts as fifth-year graduate transfer… Scored nine goals while recording 22 assists… Was fourth on the team and in the entire conference in assists… Had 31 assists, tied for sixth most on the squad… Recorded a hat-trick and a season-high five assists in a Mar. 4 win at Quincy… Took 37 shots, including 25 w which were on goal… Tallied 12 ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Before CMU: Had played for four seasons and in 29 total games at Division I Vermont, helping them to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances and two America East Tournament titles… Was an America East All-Rookie team selection for the Catamounts in 2019.
2022 (As a Senior @ Vermont): Played in one game, appearing in the NCAA Tournament opening-round win against Manhattan… The Catamounts had won the America East regular season (with an undefeated conference record) and tournament titles.
2021 (As a Junior @ Vermont): Played in ten games of the Catamounts’ 14 games, helping them to qualify for the NCAA Tournament, where they were downed by eventual national-runner up Maryland… Helped the Catamounts win the America East Tournament… Scored three goals while assisting on five others throughout the season… Took 24 shots, including eight on goal… Also scooped up three ground balls… Posted back-to-back three point games against UAlbany (April 28) and Stony Brook (May 1) ... Scored twice and added an assist against UAlbany and then scored a goal with two assists against Stony Brook.
2020 (As a Sophomore @ Vermont): Played in three of the Catamounts’ four games, making one start at offensive midfield … Recorded a ground ball against Quinnipiac (Feb. 22)… Took three shots, including two on goal for the Catamounts, who went 3-1.
2019 (As a Freshman @ Vermont): Earned America East All-Rookie honors after playing in all 15 games and making 14 starts as a freshman midfielder ... Finished second on the team with 14 assists and sixth on the team with 25 points ... Tallied two goals and two assists, all in the second half, in Vermont's 10-9 win over UAlbany (Apr. 6) ... His 14 assists are the eighth most by a freshman in program history… Helped the Catamounts to a winning 8-7 season and a trip to the America East Championship Game.
Prep: 2018 graduate of Westminster School in Simsbury, Connecticut… Played for the Martlets and Coach Ryan Curtis… Was a All-New England 1 West Midfielder as a senior… Was the team’s MVP and captain… Was a 2016 all-state pick in his home state of Washington, where he attended Bainbridge Island High School for four years.
Personal: Has not decided upon a major… Son of Lisa Kopecky and Michael Iaria… Has one younger sister— Ruby… Aspires to coach collegiate lacrosse… Enjoys skiing, frisbee and golfing.
