As a Redshirt Sophomore (2024): Ran in two early season meets, finishing 34
th at the Mountaineer/Cowboy Open in Gunnison and 116
th at the Roadrunners Invitational in Denver… Set a season-best 8K time of 27:30.4 at the latter… Named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.
As a Redshirt Freshman (2023): Ran in the Mavs’ first two meets, placing 19
th at the Gig Leadbetter Maverick Stampede… Led the partial Maverick squad at the home meet with an 8K time of 26:12.2 at that meet after opening the season with a 54
th place finish and time of 28:59.1 at the Mountaineer Invite... Named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.
As a Freshman (2022): Redshirt season… Ran unattached at the Mountaineer/Cowboy Invite… Finished 38
th with a 8K time of 29:47.2.
Prep: 3-year varsity letter-winner in cross country and swimming at O’Dea High School in Seattle… Was a 2-time letter-winner in track… Finished ninth in the 800 meters at the Washington 3A State Championships as a senior in 2022 with a PR time of 1:58.39… Claimed two event wins four other second place finishes during the season, which also saw him set PRs of 53.49 (400) and 4:32.48 (1600)… Qualified for the 3A State Cross Country Championships during his 2021 senior season, placing 100
th… Set a 5K PR of 16:05.10 to finish 14
th at the Metro League Championships before taking 32
nd at the Sea-King District 2 Championships.
Personal: Is majoring in physics... Son of Tim and Nicole Leary… Has two older siblings— Jack and Kate… Kate is on the CMU swimming team… Enjoys watching movies, rock climbing, playing video games and watching sports.
