Todd Macon joined the Maverick football staff prior to the 2020 season after spending a season as the running backs coach at Briar Cliff University. Prior to coaching, Macon competed as a running back for the Sioux City Bandits after finishing his collegiate career with Liberty University in 2017.
Macon rushed for 179 yards and five touchdowns with the Bandits while also hauling in six receptions for 55 yards and a score. In college, he was a part of the 2017 Liberty team that defeated Baylor and was a key member of a squad that reached the FCS playoffs in 2014. Macon rushed for 40 yards and caught two passes for 10 yards in the first round of the 2014 playoffs to help the Flames register the program's first-ever postseason victory against #15 James Madison.
