Marcus Patton

Marcus Patton enters his second season as defensive coordinator at Colorado Mesa. 

In 2014, Patton's defensive ranked 20th in the nation in incerptions and 27th in defensive touchdowns. Dustin Rivas was named the RMAC Freshman Defensive Player of the Year after leading the NCAA in interceptions with six. 

Patton came to CMU from Fairmount State in West Virginia where he served as defensive coordinator. 

Prior to his time at Fairmont State, Patton served in a variety of positions at Seton Hill including interim head coach, defensive line, secondary coach, recruiting coordinator and academic advisor.

Patton has also coached at the Div. I level at UCLA, Indiana State and South Florida. He spent time with the Miami Dolphins as part of the Bill Walsh Minority Internship focusing on the secondary and special teams.

He earned his bachelor degree from Kansas State where he was a three-year letterwinner of the football team that captured the 2003 Big 12 Championship. Patton started his coaching career in the high school ranks in Missouri and Florida where he coached several players who went on to play Div. I and even the NFL.
