Magaña earns her second RMAC Player of the Week award

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa University softball player Molli Magaña was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Week this afternoon as released by conference officials.

Magaña has now earned this award two times in her freshman season with this being the second time in three weeks after previously being named as the Player of the Week on April 14 in week 10.

She has both RMAC Player of the Week awards for the Mavericks this year.

Magaña was selected as this week's pick after putting up a dominant offensive series against Chadron State College this past weekend in which she hit 6-for-12 (.500) while totaling 11 runs, five home runs, 21 total bases and 11 RBIs.

Magaña had home runs in three games of the series win over Chadron with her having two home runs in both games three and four and adding another in game one.

She was just a grand slam short of the home run cycle on the weekend with her hitting two three-run bombs, two two-run home runs and one solo shot. She finished with five RBIs in both games two and three as well.

Overall, Magaña recorded a slugging percentage of 1.750 from her performance while also owning an on-base percentage of .667.

Joining Magaña in the awards was UCCS's Autumn Kunze, who was named as the Pitcher of the Week.

The Mavs will host Black Hills State University this weekend for their final home series of the regular season. Games are set for doubleheaders on both Friday and Saturday with Friday beginning at noon. Saturday will also be the team's senior day with ceremonies occurring between the doubleheader.
