#4 Mavericks head to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA released the field of 64 teams that will compete for the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship on Sunday (Mar. 8) evening.
 
The field is divided into eight geographical regions with eight teams making up the bracket per region.
 
Colorado Mesa was awarded the No. 3 seed in the South Central Region and will take on No. 6 Lubbock Christian in the first round of the regional. The Mavericks are 1-2 all-time against the Chaps but won the most recent meeting two years ago in the same venue that they will play in this year.
 
The tournament will be hosted in Denton, Texas for the third straight year with Texas Woman's University the host. The Pioneers will take on eighth-seeded Eastern New Mexico while second-seeded West Texas A&M is set to take on seventh-seeded UT Tyler.
 
It will be an All-RMAC affair in the No. 4 vs. No. 5 matchup as No. 4 UCCS will take on No. 5 Adams State.
 
It is the tenth time the Mavericks have made the NCAA National Tournament including three straight appearances. It will be the ninth time that head coach Taylor Wagner will lead the team to the NCAA Tournament.
