WINTER PARK, Fla.— Kaylee Kittle recorded her second hat-trick of the Florida trip and claimed four draw controls while
Olivia Turk matched a career-high with five turnovers to lead the Colorado Mesa University women's lacrosse team, which was downed 12-9 by national poll No. 19 Rollins College on Friday evening here at the Tars' Cahall-Sandspur Field.
Kittle had scored four times in Tuesday night's season-opening game at No. 10 Saint Leo.
In Friday's contest, the Tars scored all five third quarter goals to break open up what was a 4-3 game at the half while improving to 2-0 on the young season.
The Mavs, now 0-2, then scored six times in the fourth quarter to close the final deficit.
Devon Morris had the final two of those goals while
Sadie Chappuis,
Carson Dickey,
Cameron Flynn and
Evelynn Vissari also scored in the final stanza.
Courtney Havel recorded three assists and four ground balls while Turk and sophomore goalkeeper
Heather Hawkins, who made 11 saves led the CMU defense.
The Mavs finished with a 31-28 edge in total shots and had a slight 12-11 edge in draw controls. The Mavs also caused 11 turnovers as both teams managed 16 ground balls.
The Mavs will conclude the trip in Boca Raton on Sunday, taking on 11
th-ranked Lynn at 1 p.m. EDT (11 a.m. Mountain).
