ALAMOSA, Colo. – The No. 12 Colorado Mesa University men's lacrosse team rolled to a dominant 19-4 RMAC victory this afternoon over the Adams State University Grizzlies at ASU Lacrosse Field.
Winning their second game in as many played, the Mavericks now won both games played in Alamosa over the past six days with them previously taking down No. 20 Rockhurst University on Feb. 8.
The Mavs trailed for roughly one minute in today's contest before going on an offensive tear that saw them score three or more goals in each of the four periods.
After giving up the first goal of the game in the fourth minute of play, the Mavs scored 10 times more before they'd allow their next goal against with them scoring seven times in the first half and 12 times in the second.
So far this season the Mavs have outscored opponents 28-11 overall while dominating the second half even more with a 15-8 advantage.
The Grizzlies scored twice in the third period but were limited to just one in the fourth as multiple Maverick reserve players saw time towards the end of the game.
The Mavs additionally would score six goals each in both the third and fourth periods.
11 different Mavs registered goals for CMU in the game while four of them had two or more.
Dillon Pless, Aidan Brock and Ari Villano each had three goals apiece to lead the team with all three of Pless' coming in the second period as the Mavs built the early lead.
Jack Cooper and Camden Moody each had two goals to bolster the attack.
The group of Carson Points, Merrick Banning, Deuce Kirschke, Summit Mottinger, Dillan Thomas and Luke Geisbauer each scored once to round out the team.
The Mavs outshot the Grizzlies 54-17 in the game with 34 of those attempts being on goal.
They dominated the groundballs (37-25) and face offs (16-9) categories as well.
In the net, four different goalkeepers combined to record six saves for the Mavs with Boaz Brown ultimately earning the decision for the win.
The Mavs will return to action on Mar. 5 when they host their home opener against Florida Southern College at Community Hospital Unity Field at 7 p.m.
