COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University junior outside hitter
Ashlee Macias was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Offensive Volleyball Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday afternoon.
Macais recorded 31 kills, an average of 4.43 per set, and hit .453 while leading the Mavericks to home wins over Western Colorado and Fort Lewis.
In Friday's 3-set sweep of Western Colorado, Macias registered 12 kills on .500 hitting. She then put down a season-high 19 kills while hitting at a .424 clip in Saturday's 4-set win over Fort Lewis. The El Paso, Texas native also had 13 digs in the win over the Skyhawks to record her team-leading fifth double-double of the season.
Macias also added two service aces and nine digs in Friday's win over Western and had a season-high three blocks in Saturday's victory. She finished the weekend with 35 ½ total points, a 5.07 per set average.
A transfer from UT Permian Basin, where she earned Second Team All-Lone Star Conference honors in 2025, Macias is leading a balanced Maverick attack in kills (166), service aces (23) and total points (197). She also ranks second in the RMAC for service aces per set (0.43), fifth for points per set (3.72) and seventh for kills per set (3.13).
The Mavericks are tied for first place in the RMAC standings with a 5-1 record and have a 13-3 overall record, also equal to the best in the conference.
They have won four straight and 11 of their last 12 matches and are now on the doorstep of cracking into the national top 25 poll for the first time this season. They have been receiving votes in the AVCA-Taraflex NCAA Division II Poll throughout the season and picked up 34 points in the latest poll, which was also released on Monday afternoon. That total is the highest of any squad in the "others receiving votes" category and just nine points shy of new No. 25 Alaska-Fairbanks.
The Mavs, who are 9-0 at home this season, will be on the road for their three matches, playing next at Colorado Christian (7-7, 4-2 RMAC) on Friday at 6 p.m. in Lakewood.
