Women’s Soccer earns United Soccer Coaches Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches Association announced on Friday the College Team Academic Award winners, recognized for their exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2024-25 academic year with Colorado Mesa University being recognized.

A total of 736 soccer teams (302 men, 434 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2024-25 academic year. Of that total, 167 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized.

The Colorado Mesa Women's Soccer Team was represented after carrying a 3.79 GPA this past school year with 28 different players contributing to that average. This high academic achievement also came in Head Coach Jody Lingafeldt's first season at the helm of the Mavericks after they played to a 14-2-4 record while reaching as far as the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

In addition to the Mavs, both the women's programs from CSU Pueblo and New Mexico Highlands were also represented on the list.

Colorado Mesa begins their season on Sept. 4 when they host the Colorado Mesa Kickoff Weekend at Community Hospital Unity Field. Tickets and information can be found online at cmumavericks.com.
