GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—
Caroline Ohngemach scored a career-high seven goals while
Justine Anderson chipped in seven offensive points with three goals and four assists to lead the Colorado Mesa University women's lacrosse team to an impressive 20-9 running-clock margin victory over visiting UCCS on Friday afternoon here at Community Hospital Unity Field.

The victory, also sparked by a first-quarter hat trick from
Ali Bryant, was CMU's seventh straight overall and allowed the Mavs to move to 7-0 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play for the first time in program history.  The last five Maverick wins have come by running-clock margins.

Both teams are now 8-4 overall.  UCCS is in third place in the RMAC standings with a 5-3 RMAC record and can no longer win the RMAC title.

The Mavs sit in first place and have now set up Sunday's title-deciding showdown with second place and national poll No. 15 Regis, who was 6-1 entering a Friday night match-up at Westminster.

That game will begin at 2 p.m. and will be preceded by Senior Day festivities at 12:40 p.m.

CMU defeated the Rangers, 16-11 in Denver on Mar. 14 and could clinch at least a share of the RMAC regular season crown with a win.

The Mountain Lions won the opening draw and scored just 52 second in to the game before
Emme Rezoski won the second draw while being fouled.  She then zoomed down the field and scored the game-tying goal after claiming what was her 200
th career draw control.

Bryant, who recorded her first hat trick since a 2023 RMAC Tournament semifinal win over the Mountain Lions, then scored the next three goals over the next 3:49 as the Mavericks took a 4-1 lead, an advantage they never relinquished.

The Mavs went on to take a 7-4 lead after the first quarter before the Mountain Lions clawed back to within 8-7, just three minutes into the second quarter.

The Mavs then went on another 4-0 run that featured two Ohngemach goals, another by Bryant and the first of two
Courtney Havel markers to take a 12-7 lead into halftime.

The Mavs then cracked down defensively allowing just one goal to the RMAC's leading offensive attack in each of the final two quarters.

Meanwhile, they scored five straight goals in the latter stages of the third quarter and first 7:41 of the fourth to implement the running clock, which paused slightly on UCCS's final goal with 4:42 left.

The Mavs then completed the scoring with Anderson and Ohngemach goals in the final four minutes as reserves got to play in the final minutes.

Ohngemach's seven goals are tied for the second most in a single game in CMU history   She did the damage on just nine shots and converted all three of her free position shot attempts.  She also claimed six draw controls to lead the Mavs in that category.

She has now scored 18 goals in the last four games alone and has four consecutive and seven hat tricks this season.

Anderson has now recorded 16 offensive points in the last two games alone and leads the RMAC with 26 assists.

Freshman goalie
Heather Hawkins made nine saves to pace the CMU defense, which also received a strong effort from
Sydney Skinner, who had four caused turnovers and three ground balls.  Hawkins,
Sophie Astone and
Olivia Turk also chipped in three groundballs a piece.
