COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The No. 13 Colorado Mesa baseball team snapped their 13-game winning streak on Friday (Apr. 11) afternoon as the fell to the host UCCS Mountain Lions 14-8 at Mountain Lion Field in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
UCCS plated two in the first inning then scored six more in the second, all of which came with two outs, to build an 8-0 lead.
In the top of the third inning, the Mavericks answered back by sending 11 men to the plate and scoring six runs to cut it to 8-6.
Kolby Felix had a two-run double then two batters later four straight RBI hits got the Mavericks back into the game.
The Mountain Lions built a 14-7 lead after six innings and Colorado Mesa could only get one more back which came in the seventh.
Cayden Clark and
Emilio Flores came in late in the game and pitched the final four and two-thirds innings to give the Mavericks a chance. The duo combined to allow one run on four hits walked one and struck out four.

Joey Blank each had two hits for the Mavericks.
Colorado Mesa stranded nine runners on base and the double play put a stop to several potential comeback attempts. The Mavericks ended innings by double play in the second, fourth and the sixth with two of those three innings the Mavericks had the bases loaded when the double play occurred.
The Mavericks and Mountain Lions will continue their series with a pair of seven inning games tomorrow beginning at Noon.
