ST. GEORGE, Utah— The Colorado Mesa University Maverick women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to NCAA Division I Utah Tech University on Friday here at the Trailblazer Tennis Courts.

Jade Brilhante and
Jane Steur were able to win sets in the fourth and sixth singles flights, although the Trailblazers picked up 3-set wins in those matches after winning the other four singles matches in straight sets. The hosts also won all three doubles matches and picked up their first team win of the season while improving to 1-8.
The NCAA Division II Mavs fell to 6-7 overall.
Brilhante won the second set of her No. 4 singles match against Laura Coulome, but fell 6-1, 2-6, 6-2. Steur won the opening set at No. 6 singles against Raquel Roshak but succumbed, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Steur and
Catalina Ballon Marin also fared the best for the Mavs in doubles but were defeated 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
CMU will now prepare for a Spring Break trip to California, where they will place seven fellow Pacific West Conference foes in a span of six days from Mar. 15-20.
