Havel, Murray combine for seven goals as nine Mavs score

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Courtney Havel and Courteney Murray led nine Colorado Mesa University goal scorers in a comprehensive and well-rounded 17-6 Maverick women's lacrosse win over visiting Westminster University here at Community Hospital Field.

The Mavericks, who have now won 20 straight games over the Griffins since 2015, got out to a hot start taking a 5-0 lead with goals from five different goal scorers in the first 14:06.  Murray scored one of those and added both of her assists on Anderson and Bryant goals earlier in the quarter.

The Griffins did get on the scoreboard in the final minute of the first quarter before the Mavs scored five more times in the second, taking a 10-3 lead with just 0.6 seconds remaining on Havel's second goal.

Caroline Ohngemach, who also had a game-high six draw controls, Havel and Dickey then scored to build the Mavs' lead to 13-3 by the mid-point of the third quarter.
