COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following action in week six of the season, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released its players of the week this afternoon with Colorado Mesa University earning honors as Jessalyn Gallegos was named the pitcher of the week.
This is Gallegos' first time earning this award in her career as she has become a stable in the Maverick's pitching staff this season leading them in almost every single pitching category.
She earns this award after having a pair of dominant performances this past weekend when she went 2-0 in the circle with two complete game victories in a sweep over New Mexico Highlands. Gallegos held opponents to just three earned runs in her two outings as she owned a 1.75 ERA through 12 innings pitched. In addition, she struck out 19 batters, with 12 of those strikeouts coming in the team's Game 1 victory of the series.
Gallegos is currently 6-1 this season through 13 appearances while owning a 1.70 ERA to be ranked third in the conference.
The Mavericks head to the road this weekend when they travel south to Alamosa to take on Adams State University at ASU Softball Field. Game time is set for noon on Saturday.
