GLENDALE, Ariz.— The Colorado Mesa University men's tennis team claimed a 4-0 win over the Ottawa University of Arizona Spirit on Saturday here at the Paseo Racquet Club.
The Mavs, 5-3 on the season, went 2-1 on their weekend in Arizona and dominated the Spirit (0-3) on Saturday, conceding just six total games in their three singles victories.
The Mavs also won by 6-2 and 6-1 margins in doubles, clinching the doubles point and the overall match with relative ease.
In doubles,
Philemon Jabin and
Emil Hultman defeated Kasper Olofsson and Carlos Robles, 6-2 at No. 1 after
Romain Payan and
Jamison Pfingston bested Maximiliano Lopez-Gonzalez and Filip Novacek by a 6-1 margin at No. 3 doubles.
Jabin was the first Maverick to win in singles, defeating Arvid Lindbald by identical 6-1 set scores in the fourth flight.
Diogo Manzano was the next CMU player to win, beating Lopez-Gonzalez by a 6-2, 6-0 margin at No. 6 singles.
Payan then delivered the clincher, 6-2, 6-0 over Noah Koeroessy at No. 3 singles.
Henry Scheck,
William Leschig and
Emil Hultman were all up a set in their respective singles matches, that were left unfinished. The No. 2 doubles match was also left unfinished.
The Mavericks will continue their season next weekend playing three duals in Kearney, Nebraska.
