Taylor leads 12 Mavericks on All-RMAC Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released their All-Conference teams for football on Friday (Nov. 21) afternoon. Colorado Mesa had a total of 12 individuals selected for either the first team, second team or were an honorable mention.

The All-RMAC teams are nominated by their head coaches and selected by the conference's head coaches who are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.

The Mavericks were led by their lone first team selection in running back Aiden Taylor. The Modesto, Calif. native rushed for 1,021 yards and 10 touchdowns during his senior season becoming the first Maverick since 2017 to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark. Taylor had back-to-back three touchdown games against Adams State and New Mexico Highlands and had a season-high 167 yards against the Cowboys.

The senior finished second in the RMAC in rushing yards and was No. 20 in NCAA Division II. His touchdown total was sixth-best in the conference.

Taylor was a second team selection last season and totaled 1,690 yards and 16 touchdowns in his brief two-year Maverick career.

Fellow senior running back Brandon Belgrave was named to the second team after earning honorable mention recognition last season. Belgrave finished his final season with 665 yards rushing and eight touchdowns.

Calem Grimble and Cooper Mumford both earned second team honors manning the left side of the offensive line for the Mavericks. Grimble, an honorable mention selection in 2024, and Mumford, now a two-time second team selection, helped lead the Mavericks to the third best rush attack in the conference at just over 216 yards per game. The offensive line allowed only eight sacks this season (less than one per game) and over 30 points per game.

Sophomore tight end Alex Turpin was recognized with second team honors after finishing the season with 22 catches for 180 yards and four touchdowns. The 6-5 target had a two-touchdown game against South Dakota Mines in the final regular season home game.

Junior Gibson Leafgreen picked up second team honors at safety after finishing the season with 56 total tackles and two interceptions.

The Maverick specialists were recognized on the second team as Sullivan Moon earned the nod at punter while Alex Contreras was named the second team long snapper. Moon finished the season averaging 45.8 yards per punt and had 13 go for more than 50 yards.

Defensive back Kash Bradley, wide receiver Trek Keyworth, offensive lineman Max Kibbee and linebacker George Soppe all earned honorable mention honors for their play during the season.
