Mavs earn No. 4 seed, return to NCAA Regionals for third year in a row

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The #22 Colorado Mesa University Women's Soccer Team was selected as one of the six teams from the South Central Region to be a part of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer National Tournament this afternoon as announced by the NCAA at their selection show.

Earning the No. 4 seed, Colorado Mesa now heads to Dallas, Texas this weekend as they will be joined by host of the site, No. 1 Dallas Baptist University and No. 5 Texas Woman's.

Colorado Mesa will take on Texas Woman's in the first game of the week on Friday with the winner then facing off with DBU on Sunday. Game time is set for 2 P.M. MST on both Friday and Sunday.

The Mavericks earned an outright bid into the tournament as the top six teams all earn automatic bids. Conference winners also gain automatic bids into the tournament.

This is the first time the Mavs have faced Texas Woman's since 2023 with Colorado Mesa taking that matchup in a 1-0 win. All time the Pioneers own a 3-2 record against the Mavs.

Colorado Mesa fared a 1-0-1 record in their trip to Regionals last season with them defeating Midwestern State 2-1 before falling to Colorado School of Mines in a penalty kick shootout after being tied 3-3 at the end of regulation.

The Mavericks earned an outright bid into this year's tournament after putting together one of the best seasons in RMAC and school history going 14-3-2 while being undefeated in RMAC play at 9-0-2. Over the course of the season they collected a total of 15 shutouts with 12 of them coming in a row. They didn't allow a single goal in conference play with just one goal coming at home in the RMAC Tournament Championship.

Six different players on the team also received honors to the All-RMAC teams, with that bunch being highlighted by goalkeeper Keely Wieczorek who was named as the RMAC Goalkeeper of the Year and was joined on the First Team All-RMAC squad by Olivia Barrett, Kylie Wells and Ally Wachtel, which was announced last Tuesday. Sarah Dunn was selected to the Second Team while Ellie Duncan earned Honorable Mention All-RMAC honors.

Head Coach Jody Lingafeldt was named as the conference's Coach of the Year in just her second year leading the program as well with this being her second appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The Mavs had made six total NCAA Tournament appearances now with the farthest they've reached being the South Central Regional Final in 2023. All-time the Mavs are 5-5-1 in the NCAA Tournament.

Tickets for the event can be purchased online at www.ncaatickets.com. Streaming will occur on the RMAC Network as apart of their pay-per-view plan.
