COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— For the second time this season, Colorado Mesa University senior outside hitter
Sadie Scoville was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Offensive Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
The Pleasant Grove, Utah native recorded 41 kills, an average of 5.86 per set, while hitting a combined .351 during the Mavs' 2-0 home weekend against Chadron State and Regis. Scoville also recorded 15 digs, five blocks and two service aces and registered 45 ½ total points, good for an average of 6.50 per set.
After being recognized during pre-match Senior Night festivities on Saturday against Regis, Scoville recorded a career-high smashing 29 kills while hitting .410. Her 29-kill effort was the best of any Maverick since Mackenzie Edwards recorded 33 against Fort Lewis on Sept. 30, 2017 and was the highest kill total for any RMAC player in a 4-set match this season.
Her kill total is also equal to the fourth highest in program history in the rally-scoring era (2001-Present).
Scoville also put down a match-high 12 kills in Friday night's 3-set sweep of Chadron State.
She leads the Mavs in kills with 274 (3.19/set) and total points with 319 ½ (3.72/set) this season, ranking amongst the RMAC's top ten in both. She is also tied for the team led in service aces with 22.
She was also the RMAC's Offensive Player for Week No. 3 on Sept. 22.
The Mavericks hold a 14-9 overall record and are tied with the Colorado School of Mines and Fort Lewis for fourth place in the conference standings at 8-4. They will conclude the regular season this weekend in South Dakota, playing at Black Hills State on Friday at 6 p.m. in Spearfish before going to Rapid City to play South Dakota Mines on Saturday at 4 p.m.
A win in either match would assure the Mavs of a spot in next week's RMAC Tournament.
