#6 Mavs show out in opening Tri-Dual of the season

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Beginning the year at home and showing out in dominant fashion, the #6 Colorado Mesa University Women's Wrestling Team defeated a pair multi-level schools this evening as they beat both Snow College and Texas Woman's University in the final two legs of the Maverick tri-dual at Brownson Arena.

Outscoring the combined schools 78-11, the Mavericks worked their way to an exhibition win against Snow College to start the day by a score of 40-5, before winning their first RMAC dual of the season against Texas Woman's in the nightcap, 38-6.

Since the dual versus Snow College was an exhibition matchup team scores will not be counted, but head-to-head records will.

Prior the two schools facing the Mavs, Snow College and Texas Woman's faced off in the first leg of the tri-dual with Texas Woman's taking the victory by a score of 31-16.

Below is a short recap of each dual:

Colorado Mesa 40, Snow College 5:

Working their way to nine wins in 10 matches, the Mavs dominated Snow College for the second year in a row to start their day as they earned every single win of the dual by either pin or technical fall.

Earning those wins by pin were the group of Kinlee Brandley, Brooke McCurley and Mollie Dare with all three pins coming in under two minutes. Brandley also is a Snow College alum coming into this year after she transferred in this fall.

The remaining five wins all came by technical fall with that group being represented by Adriana Gomez, #10 Jojo McDaniel, Thalia Vogelsang, #7 Gretchen Donally, Taylor Colangelo and #4 Jayleen Sekona.

The quartet of McDaniel, Vogelsang, Donally and Sekona also did so without allowing a single point to their opponents.
