CHADRON, Neb. – The No. 9 Colorado Mesa women's wrestling team won six of the ten duals en route to a 28-18 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual win over the Chadron State Eagles at the Chicoine Center on Friday (Jan. 17) evening.
Chadron State started out hot as they won the 103-pound bout and then received a forfeit at 110 pounds to take a 10-0 lead after two matches.
The Mavericks then came out and picked up wins in the next three matches.
Jojo McDaniel picked up a first period pin over Shania Wear followed by a
Thalia Vogelsang pin of Maddox Gelhausen at 124 pounds to tie the dual at 10-10.
The Mavericks picked up a forfeit at 131 pounds to take their first lead of the dual.
Chadron State tied it up with a pin at 138 pounds to make it 15-15.
The Mavericks would earn wins in the next three bouts to take control of the dual.
Celina Cooke picked up a pin at 3:55 of Karsten Hollen after trailing in the 145-pound bout followed by a technical fall win by
Gretchen Donally at 160 pounds.

Alison Evans earned the technical fall win at 180 pounds 10-0 with just seconds left in the bout. The matchup was a rematch of the championship bout at the Chadron State Open in December. Evans has now won both matchups.
Chadron State's Esther Peters earned a decision victory in the final bout of the evening.
The Mavericks improve to 13-3 on the season overall and 2-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference while the Eagles fall to 1-3 on the season and 0-2 in the conference.
The Mavericks will compete at the York Open tomorrow beginning at 8am. Colorado Mesa will be back home next Saturday as a part of a men's and women's doubleheader against Adams State in Brownson Arena beginning at 4pm.
