Holly Beaudoin was named the NWCA Region VI Wrestler of the Month for January on Tuesday (Feb. 6) morning. The NWCA Regional Wrestler of the Month is selected by the Executive Committee with one wrestler selected from each of the six NCAA geographic regions.
Beaudoin went unbeaten in the month of January going 6-0 with all six wins coming by pin. The Poulsbo, Wash. native went 5-0 at the NWCA National Duals that included a win over now ranked Alexandra Szkotnicki of McKendree just 42 seconds into the first period.
Later in the month, she pinned now 143-pound RMAC Champion Liana Fernandez of Adams State at 2:57 in a dual with Adams State.
The redshirt junior is now 14-2 with nine pins and becomes the first Maverick to claim NWCA Region VI Wrestler of the Month this season. She is now eligible to become the National Wrestler of the Month.
Beaudoin and the Mavericks are off until February 24 when they travel to Denton, Texas and Kitty Magee Arena for the NCWWC Region VI Tournament where the top four wrestlers at each weight class will qualify for the NCWWC National Championships in Iowa.
