CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The No. 4 Colorado Mesa women's wrestling team closed out competition at the NWCA National Dual Championships at the Northern Iowa Dome on Saturday (Jan. 6) morning. The Mavericks finished in eighth place out of 15 teams in the field of competition after a pair of fourth place finishes prior to this year.
 
#22 Lindenwood 26, #4 Colorado Mesa 22
Colorado Mesa and Lindenwood split the 10 bouts in the dual but the Lions recorded four wins by pin and the Mavericks only had three pins which proved to be the difference in the dual as Lindenwood secured their first-ever win in four tries over Colorado Mesa, 26-22.
 
Isabella Morales and Adriana Gomez started things off well for the Mavericks as they recorded pins at 101 and 109 pounds respectively.
 
Following those matches, Lindenwood went on a three-match winning streak before Holly Beaudoin claimed a pin at 136 pounds in just 1:02. That sparked a three-match winning streak for the Mavericks as Dalia Garibay won by technical fall at 143 pounds and Celina Cooke followed up with a 3-1 hard fought win at 155 pounds.
 
The Lions won the final two bouts with one coming by pin and the other by forfeit.

#11 Presbyterian 28, #4 Colorado Mesa 19
In the final match of the tournament for Colorado Mesa, they fell to Presbyterian 28-19 as they were only able to win four of the bouts in the dual. They forfeited the 191-pound bout for the second straight match as they lost Isabeau Shalack to injury yesterday.
 
For the second straight dual, Colorado Mesa led off with a pair of big wins from a pair of eighth-ranked wrestlers in Isabella Morales and Adriana Gomez at 101 and 109 respectively. Morales pinned Chiara Barbieri while Gomez won by technical fall over Grace York.
 
136 pounder Holly Beaudoin concluded a perfect 5-0 tournament with a 20 second pin of Olivia Waller.
 
Celina Cooke earned a pin at 155 pounds as she defeated Isabella Badon at 2:34.
