GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The No. 5 Colorado Mesa women's wrestling team made quick work of the visiting Adams State Grizzlies in the final home dual of the season on Saturday (Jan. 27) evening. The Mavericks came away with a 44-4 win over the Grizzlies where they were victorious in nine of the ten bouts.
 
Colorado Mesa received forfeits at 101, 136, 170 and 191 pounds and started with a 20-0 lead before a match was contested.
 
Adriana Gomez made quick work of Candice Brickell as she recorded a technical fall 10-0 in 2:36 during the 109-pound bout. Gomez recorded three takedowns and got a pair of exposures for her 19 win of the season.
 
At 123 pounds, Hania Halverson earned the first of four falls for the Mavericks as she earned a pin at the 58 second mark of the first period over Rylie McCabe.

Freshman Kaydence Boyd picked up a pin at the 2:21 mark of the match at 130 pounds as she earned the fall over Grizzly Brianna Johnson. The win gave Boyd her 13^th victory of the season in her first collegiate season.
 
The final two contested bouts of the evening were won by two of the Mavericks graduating seniors. Both earned first period pins.
 
Holly Beaudoin bumped up to 143 pounds, up from her natural 136-pound slot in the lineup, to get a match on the night. Beaudoin earned a pin just prior to the end of the first period at the 2:57 mark of the match.
 
Dalia Garibay made quick work of her match at 155 pounds as she pinned Miranda Sanchez in just 30 seconds in the final bout of the evening.
 
The Mavericks will be on the road next weekend at the inaugural Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament. The tournament will be held at RMAC member Regis University on Saturday February 3 on 9:00am.
