GREENSBORO, N.C. – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region teams for the country eight geographic regions on Wednesday (May 31) morning. Colorado Mesa had eight players named to one of the two teams including the South Central Region Player of the Year.
Senior outfielder
Julian Boyd was named the ABCA South Central Region Player of the Year after leading the Mavericks to the NCAA South Central Super Regionals. He batted .436 with 24 doubles, six triples, 10 home runs and 57 runs driven in. Last week, he earned First Team recognition by the NCBWA and D2CCA for their All-Region teams.
The Los Angeles native was the RMAC Co-Player of the Year and set a Colorado Mesa single season record for stolen bases with 38.
Liam Hohenstein was named ABCA All-Region First Team after a superb freshman campaign with the Mavericks. He went 9-1 with a 3.06 ERA in 64 and two-thirds innings pitched with 69 strikeouts and picked up RMAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year honors during the season. Last week, Hohenstein was named to the All-Region First Team by both the NCBWA and D2CCA.
Jonathan Gonzalez earned his first All-Region honor by being named to the ABCA All-Region Second Team. The Brawley, Calif. native turned into the mainstay at second base for the Mavericks and didn't disappoint. He batted .355 with 10 doubles, a triple and four home runs while fielding .978 in the middle infield.
RMAC Co-Player of the Year
Harrison Rodgers was named to the ABCA All-Region Second Team this morning. Rodgers batted .361 with 17 doubles, four triples, and 15 home runs while driving in 65 during his junior season.
Robert Sharrar earned ABCA All-Region Second Team honors after an outstanding junior season. The Mavericks everyday center fielder batted a team-high .437 with 11 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs and 55 runs driven in.
Senior
Conrad Villafuerte earned All-Region status as he picked up Second Team honors by the ABCA. The Fountain Valley, Calif. native batted .422 with 18 doubles, a triple, 12 home runs and a team-high 78 runs driven in. He earned D2CCA and NCBWA Second Team honors last week ahead of the Super Regional tournament.
Jacob Rhoades stepped into the Friday night starter role this year and pitched well. He was rewarded this morning with All-Region Second Team honors after going 6-3 with a 4.42 ERA during the season. He pitched 73 and a third innings with 68 strikeouts while allowing his opponents to bat just .234 off of him.

Anthony Durbano was named to the ABCA All-Region Second Team after picking up All-RMAC First Team honors a few weeks ago. The senior finished the season with a 5-0 record and a 2.94 ERA with 10 saves along with earning All-Region honors by the NCBWA and D2CCA.
