GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— A youthful Colorado Mesa University women's tennis team evened their overall record at 11-11 as they defeated Colorado College, 6-1 to complete a season sweep of the NCAA Division III Tigers on Saturday here at the Elliott Tennis Center.
After winning both completed doubles matches, the Mavericks used three freshman in the singles lineup and won five of the six matches, including three 3-setters, to claim the overall victory, a week after defeating the Tigers 9-0 in Colorado Springs. Two of the three freshman in

Jane Steur were victorious as they joined
Issy Coman,
Macy Richards and exhibition player
Audrey O'Rear as Mavericks who went 2-0 throughout the day.
Saturday's match was the first home dual of the entire season for the Mavericks.
CC fell to 4-8 with the loss.
Coman extended her winning streak to six in both singles and doubles while Richards, her doubles partner, picked up her 14
th singles win of the season.
Moving up to No. 1 for doubles as
Makenna Livingston and
Halle Romero sat the dual out, Coman and Richards were easy 6-1 winners over Magdalene Gonzales and Maddy Meister.
Richards then breezed past Lindsay Popeo, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles while Coman needed just a few more minutes to defeat Gonzales, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) in the top flight.
Earlier, Maier and fellow freshman
Kristen Thomas were 6-3 winners at No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point.
Paige Furin and
Julianna Campos were leading 4-3 when their No. 2 doubles match, which did not matter for the team score was left unfinished when Furin suffered an injury.
Furin then sat out of the singles wave as Campos claimed a 6-0, 2-6, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles over the Tigers' Gigi Jensen to give the Mavs their fourth team point and clinch the dual.
Later, Maier defeated Elizabeth Girian, 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 at No. 4 singles while Steur came from behind to win a tight, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 1-0 (13-11) No. 6 singles decision over CC's Abby Wilson after getting the late call-up to the Maverick lineup.
CC's lone victory of the day came from Maddy Meister, who knocked off Thomas, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 in a hard-fought No. 5 singles match.
Steur also paired with O'Rear for a 6-2 exhibition doubles win while O'Rear finished off the action with an 8-3 exhibition singles win over Olivia Dick.
The Mavs will wrap up the regular season next Saturday (Apr. 15) with two more home duals against CSU Pueblo at 10 a.m. and MSU Denver at 2 p.m.
