ALAMOSA, Colo. – The No. 4 Colorado Mesa women's wrestling team picked up two dual meet wins on Thursday (Dec. 7) evening with one of those being a very important win inside Plachy Hall. The Mavericks moved their dual meet record to 4-0 with several duals on the horizon.
#4 Colorado Mesa 44, Texas Woman's 5
The Mavericks won nine of the ten bouts in the dual with the Pioneers including six pins on their way to a 44-5 win in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual. The win moves the RMAC record for Colorado Mesa to 2-0 while Texas Woman's falls to 1-2.
Hania Halverson started a run of three straight pins for Colorado Mesa as she pinned Mia Lozano just 35 second into the first period at 123 pounds. Freshman
Kaydence Boyd followed er at 130 pounds as she earned a first period pin over Ploy Timpanee then No. 5 ranked
Holly Beaudoin ended the streak with her pin of Kira Phillipa at 136 pounds.
After the Pioneers earned a win at 143 pounds, the Mavericks closed the dual with three straight pins by Kim Carlin (155),
Celina Cooke (170) and
Shandiin Largo (191).

For the second straight dual, the Mavericks benefitted from four forfeits on the evening to score wins in nine of the ten bouts in a 45-4 win over Adams State in a non-conference road dual. Colorado Mesa handed the Grizzlies their first-ever dual loss and their first-ever home loss as Adams State is in their first season with a women's wrestling program.
Grizzly Austria Holland gave Adams State an early boost with a technical fall win at 116 pounds but that was all they would get as the Mavericks won the next four matches with four of those going for pins. Halverson (123), Boyd (130),
