GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Redshirt senior
Raymond Jackson earned a selection to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Central Region first team as the coaches' association announced its regional awards.
Jackson was one of six RMAC players on the 12-player team, joining three selections from national runner-up CSU Pueblo and one apiece from UCCS and Fort Lewis. It is the second All-Region honor of this awards season for Jackson, who earned a D2CCA Second Team All-South Central Region bid last month.
Jackson played in and started all 19 matches for the Mavericks, the only outfield player to accomplish that feat for CMU this season. Jackson tallied two assists with eight shots, three of which were on target, but played a key role in organizing a Mavs back line that allowed only 21 goals in 19 matches with six shutouts. Jackson also wore the captain's armband throughout the season for CMU.
Jackson ends his Maverick career playing in 74 games, starting 59 matches, and having logged 4,865 career minutes. Jackson won an RMAC Regular Season Championship in the 2020 season (played in the spring of 2021 due to COVID-19) and an RMAC Tournament title in 2021 before finishing second in the league and advancing to the RMAC Tournament semifinals this season.
The United Soccer Coaches All-Region teams are selected by a vote of area collegiate head coaches.
