GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Thanks to two thrilling and significant conference wins, Colorado Mesa men's soccer claimed two of the three weekly awards handed out by the RMAC conference office.

Diego Chavez was named the RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week for the third time this season while defender Lluis Fabregat was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week to earn his first career honor. Both players were highly instrumental in last week's contests, a 3-2 win over Colorado School of Mines and a 1-0 win over MSU Denver.

Fabregat scored his first career goal against Mines, giving Colorado Mesa the lead for good at 2-1. Fabregat initiated a sequence of one-touch passing that eventually granted him a one-on-one opportunity with the Mines keeper which he calmly finished in the bottom left corner. Fabregat played the full 90 minutes against Mines and logged 74 minutes against MSU Denver as the Mavericks kept their third clean sheet of the season.

Chavez's heroics kept the Roadrunners off the scoreboard. The redshirt sophomore goalie made eight saves, six of them in the second half. That total included three saves on one-on-one breakaway attempts, a sequence where he made three saves in a 10-second span and a final save with 20 seconds left in the match. Along with three saves against Colorado School of Mines, Chavez made 11 saves during the week and leads the RMAC with 60 saves total.

The Mavericks will play at Westminster on Wednesday and at Colorado Christian this Sunday. They are currently on a nine-match unbeaten streak and are 3-0-1 in conference play.
