Box Score 2 GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa baseball team needed to come away with two wins on Friday (May 13) and that exactly what they did. They defeated Colorado School of Mines 13-7 earlier in the day before taking down the remaining undefeated team in the tournament in MSU Denver 14-10 in the nightcap.
 
Caleb Farmer paced the Maverick offense with a 5-for-6 performance with six runs scored and five runs driven in. Farmer hit the first of two home runs in the game in the fourth inning as he drove a home run to left field to give the Mavericks a 4-1 lead.
 
His second home run came in the top of te fifth inning as he sent a 1-1 pitch out to right field to extend the Maverick lead to 11-4. The home runs were his 24 and 25
th of the season along with moving his run scored total up to 88.
 
Harrison Rodgers, 
Conrad Villafuerte and 
Matthew Turner all finished the game with three hits. Rodgers scored two runs while Villafuerte drove in four. Turner had a double with a run scored and he drove in one on the evening.
 
Dave Henderson earned the relief win after going five innings and allowed five runs on four hits, walked four and struck out five for his fourth win of the season.
 
Colorado Mesa 13, Colorado School of Mines 7 (Earlier in the Day)
 
Frankie Fitzgerald pitched a career-high six innings to lead the Colorado Mesa Mavericks to a 13-7 win over the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers in an elimination game on Friday morning.
 
Fitzgerald allowed three runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out three to earn his third win of the season.
 
He gave way to his bullpen in the seventh. 
Gage Edwards retired the first two batters before a strikeout wild pitch sent the inning into a spiral. Mines plated three runs before 
Cade Nicol came in for the first time in a week. Nicol pitched the remaining two and a third innings and record all seven outs via the strikeout.
 
Six of the nine positional starters had multiple hits. 
Haydn McGeary and 
Conrad Villafuerte each delivered home runs while 
Harrison Rodgers led the way with three hits.
