13 Different Mavericks Score in a 17-3 Win Over the Griffins

Salt Lake City, Utah – The Colorado Mesa women's lacrosse team defeat the Griffins in a 17-3 RMAC win to extend their overall record 6-4 with a 4-1 RMAC record.  
 
Kiley Davis and Brianna Anderson were the first period duo for the Mavericks as they each scored and assisted each other within the first six minutes of the game. The Mavericks came out strong – just three minutes in, Davis hit one in the back of the net with an assist from Anderson. Following the goal two minutes later, Anderson hit her second goal of the season in a man-up position that was assisted by Davis.
 
The Mavericks kept the Griffins (1-7 overall, 1-4 RMAC) scoreless the first period as the six goals came from five different Maverick players. Taylor Jakeman added two goals to her name which came back-to-back in the first period.
 
13 different Mavericks scored in tonight's game with eight of the goals assisted. From the second period on, the Mavericks only allowed one goal in each period as the defense caused 17 turnovers.
 
The Mavericks hit 37 shots with 24 coming on goal, to have a .712 shot on goal percentage for the season.
 
Maddie Kelleher for the Griffins hit two of three tonight's goals to lead the team with a total of 14 goals for the season.
 
The Mavericks third leading scorer, Regan Wentz, now has 19 goals on the season as she found the back of the net tonight with 9:30 left in the third period and Xcaret Salvador received her first goal of the season with 2:37 remaining in the fourth period.
 
Up next, the Mavericks will head back home to Grand Junction as they take on CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves 5 p.m. Friday night at the Community Hospital Unity Field.
