DENVER— The Colorado Mesa University women's tennis team came up just short to in-state rival MSU Denver as the Roadrunners claimed a 4-3 victory on Friday afternoon here at the Assembly Athletic Complex.

Macy Richards and
Julianna Campos were victorious for the Mavericks, who dropped to 7-12. The Roadrunners won the other three singles matches after sweeping the doubles affairs to improve to 6-8.
The Roadrunners got out to a 3-0 overall lead before Waldburger put the Mavericks on the board with a come-from-behind 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 win over Gala Castello at No. 3 singles.
The Roadrunners then clinched the dual at No. 2 singles as Isabel Heras won 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3 over
Makenna Livingston at No. 2 singles.
Richards and Campos then won the final two matches to end the dual on a high note.
Richards was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Monica Guarin at No. 5 singles while Campos defeated Kayla Myburgh, 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 6.
The Mavericks continue a 3-match swing down the I-25 corridor on Saturday playing against Division III Colorado College at 11 a.m. in Colorado Springs and at Memorial Park.
