Northridge, Calif. – Headed west to California, the Colorado Mesa beach volleyball squad are looking to add more wins to their season, starting against Cal State Northridge on Wednesday (March 23).
The doubleheader with the Matadors is scheduled for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. MST at the Matador Beach Volleyball Facility.
Winner, Winner
With eight wins under their belt, those victories are a program best. The Mavericks are 8-5 overall and over .500 for the first time in the program's existence.
On a five-game win streak after defending their home court at the CMU Tournament a couple weeks back, they defeated Trinidad State JC, Salt Lake CC and the University of Utah, twice. At the Cactus Classic the week prior, they claimed an exciting 3-2 victory over Santa Clara, three of the five flights going to three sets.
Leading Duo
Consistently playing in the No. 2 spot, the duo of
Holly Schmidt and
Macie Lachemann are 9-2 on the season. They opened the 2022 campaign rallying off five straight wins, including the team's lone point against Arizona State.
In the thrilling win over Santa Clara, they fought back in the second to force a third set, securing the dual with a 15-13 win in the third.
Scouting the Matadors
8-8 overall, the Matadors have spent a significant amount of time on their home sand, most recently taking a 4-1 win over Cal State LA. They are 8-4 at the CSUN Beach Volleyball Complex.
Kailey Klein and Victoria Rogers have put together a 9-1 dual record when playing together primarily at the fours flight, winning their last seven.
