COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's basketball team had an up and down game but finished on the 'up' as they came away with a 69-63 win over UCCS on the road in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action. The Mavericks (18-4, 13-4 RMAC) led by as many 12 with 2:50 to play in the first quarter but saw that lead evaporate as UCCS (9-13, 7-9 RMAC) took a 27-26 lead with 3:21 to play in the second quarter. Colorado Mesa regained an eight-point lead with just 30 seconds left to play and wouldn't look back.
Mariah Martin led all scorers with 25 points and handed out seven assists while teammate
Daniella Turner had a slow start to the night but finished with 16 points after going 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.
Kelsey Siemons finished with 12 points and eight rebounds to round out the Mavericks in double-digits. The Tucson native also had two blocked shots which moves her into second on the all-time blocks list by herself, sliding ahead of Maverick great Pam DeCosta.
