DURANGO, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's basketball team got a career-high 19 points from
Monica Brooks to cruise to a 77-54 win over Fort Lewis in Whalen Gymnasium in the regular season final on Saturday (Feb. 26) evening.
Brooks was 9-for-10 from the field and scored six of the first ten points to open the game up. The redshirt junior also had six rebounds that included five on the defensive end while handing out two assists.

Mariah Martin led the team in scoring with 23 points on 8-for-19 shooting that included a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. She finished with eight assists and six rebounds.
The Mavericks shot 52.9 percent from the field in the first quarter and 53.8 percent int eh fourth quarter which helped carry them to a 46.7 percent mark in the game. They only made five three pointers at a 22.7 percent clip.
Colorado Mesa scored 20 points in every quarter except the third where they were outscored 18-14 by the Skyhawks. Despite the third quarter discrepancy, they built a 55-30 gap heading to the fourth and final quarter of action.
Fort Lewis was paced by the 25 points from senior Sydney Candelaria who played in her final game for the Skyhawks.
The Mavericks closed out the regular season with a 22-5 record and are slated to play the UCCS Mountain Lions in the opening round of the RMAC Tournament on Tuesday at 5:30pm in Brownson Arena.
