GUNNISON, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's basketball took on their rivals from the mountains and did not fare so well. The Mavericks fell 69-50 to Western Colorado in one of the final regular season games of the season.

Western Colorado raced out to a 24-11 lead after the first quarter and the Mavericks could never gain ground the rest of the game. The Mountaineers shot 75 percent from the floor in the quarter.

The Mavericks shot just 30 percent from the field and just over 58 percent from the free-throw line while the Mountaineers shot over 43 percent from the field and 35 percent from three.

Kelsey Siemons led all scorers with 13 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the field including three three-point baskets. She also had six rebounds and a blocked shot. Teammate Daniella Turner was the only other Maverick in double-digits.

Western Colorado was led by the 12 points of Katie Dalton but the Mountaineers had ten different players score points in the game.
