Mavs battle D-I Wildcats

Livingston, Richards win doubles match

OGDEN, Utah— Freshmen Makenna Livingston and Macy Richards won their No. 2 doubles match took lead the Colorado Mesa University women's tennis team's efforts in a Sunday afternoon dual at NCAA Division I Weber State University here at the Ogden Athletic Club.
 
They were 6-2 winners over Pei-Husan (Patty) Kuo and Ana Morett.
 
Livingston also took the first set of her singles match against Morett to a tie-breaker but was eventually downed 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 in the No. 1 singles affair.
 
Although the Mavericks dropped the match,  Head Coach Dan MacDonald was complimentary, stating "The women played well, especially Makenna (Livingston)."
 
The Wildcats won the other two doubles matches and all six singles matches in straight sets to claim the 7-0 team win.  They are now 4-4 this season.
 
The Mavericks fell to 4-5 overall, but are 2-2 against fellow NCAA Division II competition.
 
The Mavericks will continue their season in southern California playing three matches in as many days, their first against fellow Pacific West Conference foes, starting Thursday, Mar. 3 at 25th-ranked Biola.
