POCATELLO, Idaho— The NCAA Division I Idaho State University Bengals defeated Division II Colorado Mesa University, 7-0 in an inter-divisional men's tennis match-up here at ISU's Reed Gym on Saturday afternoon.

The Mavericks' best effort came at No. 3 singles from redshirt sophomore Jorge Abreu, who won the second set of his match against Hiroki Fujita before going down 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 overall.

Maverick No. 1 singles player Steven Howe also put up a strong fight but was downed, 6-3, 6-4 by the Bengals' Aleksandar Petrovic.

"Jorge had his chances in the third and it was an overall good team effort," Maverick Head Coach Dan MacDonald said.

CMU fell to 2-4 on the season while the Bengals improved to 7-4.

The Mavericks will play another Division I foe on Sunday facing Weber State at 9:30 a.m. in Ogden, Utah.    The Bengals had won a 6-1 match over the Wildcats (2-8) in Big Sky Conference action on Friday.
