Golden, CO - Despite the early morning travel, the lady Mavs were able to make it to Golden, Colorado to take on the Ore Diggers for a Sunday morning kickoff. Mines took the early lead, but CMU got their feet beneath them and answered back with a nice open field attack by Flyhalf Emily Canvasser to even the match at 5 a piece 13 minutes into the match. Mines scored two quick tries at the end of the first half expanding their lead to 15-5. CMU came out of halftime with a new mindset and the wheels started turning. The late match surge wasn't enough to bounce back, with the Mavs coming up short in a tough opening season matchup. The ladies fell 15-10 in the early season matchup. The future looks bright with strong performances by rookies Alice Aguilar-Porter, Jayleen Sekona and seasoned vets Liz Thoma, Nallely Robles-Velazquez, Ryleigh Blatnik and Emily Canvasser.
