Big Innings Haunt Mavericks in 9-6 Loss

PUEBLO, Colo. – The No. 1 Colorado Mesa baseball team dropped the series finale in the series with CSU Pueblo on Sunday falling by the score of 9-6 at Rawlings Field. The loss ended the Mavericks 21-game winning streak that dated back to March 26.

The big innings haunted the Mavericks as they gave up three runs in the first inning and four runs in the seventh inning while giving up single runs in the fifth and the eighth innings.

Senior Tyler Parker led off the game with his fifth home run to left field to give the Mavericks a short lived 1-0 lead. He finished the game 2-for-5 with a run scored and a run driven in.

Parker and Ethan Ezor were the lone two Mavericks that finished with multiple hits in the game.

In the top of the ninth inning, Matthew Turner belted his RMAC-leading 19th home run of the season, a two-run shot to left center field.

Reliever Josh Danilyw was saddled with the loss in relief.

Colorado Mesa will close out the regular season with a four-game series against Colorado Christian that begins on Thursday at Suplizio Field.
